Giving Back at the Soup Kitchen Valletta

As part of our CSR efforts, a group of Class Optical volunteers spent a morning at the Soup Kitchen OFM Valletta, led by Fr. Marcellino.

Our team helped prepare and serve meals for around 150 guests, cleaned and organised the kitchen and dining areas, checked food donations, and prepared supplies for the evening service. The menu for the day included baked pasta, chicken sofficini, pumpkin soup, bread, and cream pudding — simple food made with care.

The Soup Kitchen, run by the Franciscan Friars, operates almost entirely through volunteers and serves daily meals to those in need. The modern facilities, housed in a beautiful historical setting, include showers, laundry services, and a stair lift for visitors with limited mobility.

The experience gave our team a first-hand look at the importance of community support and the power of volunteering. One participant summed it up best: “Today’s experience truly humbled me. I feel I’ve taken more than I’ve given.”

We thank Fr. Marcellino and the Soup Kitchen team for their warm welcome and for the inspiring work they do every day.

We look forward to continuing our CSR efforts and supporting similar initiatives in the future.
